1968 GMC Pickup This beautifully restored 1968 GMC Fleetside Long Box Heavy ½-Ton Pickup is the result of a comprehensive frame-off restoration, completed in December 2007, with exceptional attention to detail throughout. Finished in its original and striking Omaha Orange with Bombay Ivory accents, this Canadian-built truck captures the timeless style of GMC's iconic Action Line pickups while benefiting from numerous mechanical and cosmetic upgrades.
Built at the Oshawa, Ontario assembly plant and originally sold through Strathmore Motor Products in Alberta, this truck is powered by a remanufactured 305 V8 equipped with an Edelbrock 4-barrel intake and carburetor, delivering dependable performance and classic V8 sound. Power is sent through a professionally upgraded TH350 3-speed automatic transmission with electric kickdown, making it an enjoyable cruiser for today's roads.
The restoration included extensive work throughout the chassis, body, and drivetrain. The front suspension was completely rebuilt with remanufactured A-arms, new bushings, ball joints, coil springs, and shocks, while power steering and vacuum-assisted brakes improve drivability. The truck also features a new chrome grille and bumper, remanufactured radiator, new hood hardware, and restored body panels.
Inside, the cab has been extensively refurbished with new cab floor metal, replacement cab corners, rocker panels and door bottoms, a remanufactured bench seat, all-new glass, restored gauge cluster with tachometer, new carpeting, rebuilt heater, and new window hardware. The fuel tank has also been relocated to a safer rear frame-mounted 20-gallon tank.
The restored Fleetside box features a new front panel, new tailgate, restored bed finished with Rhino bed lining, upgraded 3.23:1 differential gearing, new bearings, and a new driveshaft, making this truck as functional as it is attractive.
